Adelaide Ivánova, photographer (Issue #9)
Adelaide Ivánova, 27. She’s a photographer based in São Paulo, Brasil.
Hi! This is the first post of Carpaccio Magazine blog. In this blog we’ll post entries about our collaborators. We’ll start with Adelaide Ivánova, a photographer from Brazil. Her flickr: flickr.com/photos/adelaideivanova/.
We published her series “Fashion Victim 3 (Abaixo Abu Ghraib!)”. There’s an interesting story behind it. She “kidnapped” the clothes of the photo sessions. Then she took photos of the same clothes in a… different way in her home. She wants us to be aware that if we let the fashion magazines influences us about how our body has to be, we can end up being a fashion victim: “manipulated dolls”, as she says. That’s why in the photos she (yes, the photos are self-portraits) has her face covered or partially covered. She didn’t want to seem apocalyptic about this theme, so she added a bit of humor in the photos.
This series are part of a catalogue that her city presented to Arco last year.
