(not) common people & Carpaccio Magazine: interview with Mateusz Dryja

Mateusz Dryja, 24 years old from Poland has been interviewed by (not) common people

The third interview we’re publishing with the collaboration of (not) common people is the interview with Mateusz Dryja, emerging photographer, Issue #13 collaborator. The questions Carpaccio Magazine asked Mateusz and his replies:

Tips for new photographers- I don’t know… I’m new photographer too. Hmm… don’t stop learning. And don’t be shy to take photos when people are wondering ‘what does he see there?’. And remember that some imperfections in photos are adding them nice touch.

What’s photography for you?- Passion and way to present world better than it is. More colorful, more magical…etc. In general I try to make my photos look “more” then reality. I like when photos looks like pictures from a fairy tail. On the other hand, I don’t like too much of Photoshop. Post processing has to be balanced.

You can read the whole interview at (not) common people website.

(not) common people & carpaccio magazine: interview with Pat Martin

(not) common people had an interview with Pat Martin, Issue #13 collaborator. You can read the whole interview here.

Some things about Pat Martin: he’s from LA, he’s 17… and the questions Carpaccio Magazine asked him with his replies:

“Tips for new photographers”: Film is the way to go. Digital can be easy, but film is a science. All your mistakes can be made with film, and thats how you learn.

“What’s photography for you”: Aside from it being my passion, its my gateway into letting people see what i see, or see what i think. Its how everyone can see my view of beauty, or my view of anything. Its an expression.

With this issue we’re celebrating the first anniversary of Carpaccio Magazine Issue #1: “The Uncertain Glory of an April Day”. We started with a feeling of Uncertain Glory and now, after 12 months, we’re still feeling this Uncertain Glory. That’s why Issue #16 theme is: “I feel at home whenever the unknown sorrounds me” (inspired in the Björk song Wanderlust). Here is where we want to stay: in the unknown, in the uncertain glory…

Roseau, french artist, illustrator and poet

Roseau, french illustrator (though she prefers not to be called this way, as “illustration” is a confusing term nowadays) has collaborated on several issues of Carpaccio Magazine. We published an interview with her, Marialamar (born in Argentina, now living in Girona) and Valeria Montero “Puppe” (Argentina) in Carpaccio Magazine Issue #8, as they use to collaborate between each other and create drawings using “6 hands”.

We were amazed at her creations the first time we saw them. In many of her drawings, Roseau use a teabag to draw on it.

What do we see in Roseau drawings? Traces of a past time which has not happened.

Roseau drawings often come with poems. Both things together -drawing & poem- makes the experience of being in front of a Roseau drawing a really special experience. Well, let’s see her drawings:

You can take a look at the interview we had with Roseau, Marialamar y Valeria Montero here.

Elle Moss & her dreamy, nostalgic and vintage photos

Elle Moss is a photographer from Saline, Michigan (USA). Her images have a dreamy, nostalgic quality that is achieved through props, color and a bit of photoshopping. She wants her viewers to feel they are witnessing something special and yet, not unnatural, as she tends to use natural lighting or “real” lighting from lamps around her house.
