Vitaliy and Elena Vasilieva penetrate, confront, live a state of collaborative creativity “… we don’t share our creativity, we make it a unique thing, the result of our own…”

Bodies almost interweave in a struggle, then gain their identity back in a mathematical order, then again they are arranged and catalogued on shelves just like files waiting to be skimmed through. They live in different spaces, indoors, inside the halls of the M17 contemporary art centre, or outdoors, among the sky, clouds and wind, to become a real “border between nature and culture”.

We’ve published:
- 11 Carpaccio Magazine online issues
- 3 Carpaccio Guides to emerging illustrators, photographers & artists
- 13 printed books
- 1 book for iPad

We redesigned Atem Books & Carpaccio Magazine website!
We started a new project called Ubicuo Studio!
We attended to Ilu Station (Barcelona), Les Rencontres d’Arles – Le Village (Arles, France), Photo+Art Hamburg Book Fair (Hamburg) book fairs.
We curated a Carpaccio Magazine exhibition at Gatos de Marte, contemporary photography gallery (Murcia, Spain)
We participated in Little Big Press (Rome, Italy), nofound_photofair @ the black box (Paris, France), La noche de los libros mutantes (Madrid, Spain), Oh My Book photo exhibition (Arles, France), Photobook London (London, UK)…
And last but not least: we met a lot of amazing people.

We’ll keep working to keep growing in 2012!
At this moment we’re working on the printed version of Tusk by Ana Cabaleiro, we’re working on the iPad version of Unlimited Sobrassada, we know that we’ll attend to MIA FAIR Foto+Videoart fair (Milan, Italy)… and we’re also working on a special Carpaccio Magazine App (for iPhone/iPods touch and iPad and it will be downloadable for free!) that will be out really soon :)

Pierre Botardo, Carpaccio Magazine collaborator, is one of the 3 artists of the collective exhibition ‘Next to the Sea’.

“Using the sea as a common theme, the exhibition explores the mixed bag of human emotion that floods through us when we are faced with an expanse of shores and deep waters. From voyage and a craving for adventure to nostalgia and a sense of belonging, the sea is intriguing and reminds us how close we are to the next adventure and how far we have traveled from where we began. ‘Next to the Sea’ plays on that dichotomy of wanderlust and nostalgia, and at a more intimate level the contrast between where we have been and where we will go.”

The show runs from January 8 through February 5, 2012.
The opening reception will be held Sunday evening, January 8 from 5-8 pm.

Atem Books -Carpaccio Magazine’s publishing house- has started a new project: Ubicuo Studio.

Ubicuo Studio is thought as an studio dedicated to research on software philosophy, books in our digital era, digital books – and also dedicated to publish digital books (books for iPad, for instance).

From Ubicuo Studio’s website:

Our idea is that every process needs its own unique tools. Every tool requires its own process. Publishing a book for the iPad has nothing to do with publishing a printed book. We got rid of Indesign and we started creating a book using code. We started from scratch.

The first real project published by Ubicuo Studio & Atem Books is a photobook for iPad. Tusk by Ana Cabaleiro, an spanish emerging film photographer who published a fanzine with Atem Books in October 2010 (now sold out). Tusk is now available on the App Store.

Tusk has been designed by Maria Cerezo thinking about all the possibilities that iPads can offer us – the layout and interface takes advantage of all iPad features and, this way, we’ve been able to go beyond the printed book. We’re so excited about the idea of being able to publish music, video, use hypertext on a book – as this gives us more freedom.

In this photobook for iPad you’ll find 2 Ana Cabaleiro’s series:

Tusk: idyllic landscapes, arid, vast and lonely spaces… // Music background: <3 by Moths.

Fanzine-Diary: Ana Cabaleiro’s most intimate and nocturnal side…

Most of the photos published in Tusk are Ana Cabaleiro’s unpublished photos.

//// You can find more info here: ubicuostudio.com
